How I Work

I combine the best of chiropractic and body work.

With chiropractic tools I assess for and correct fixations and misalignments of the joints of the spine and extremities. Depending on the situation, I may use the typical high velocity low amplitude chiropractic adjustment or frequently will gently coax the correction. Everything is negotiable.

Because myofascial tissue (muscles and fascia) surround and totally influence the function of joints I spend most of my time addressing these factors. For tight muscles I may use a number bodywork and chiropractic techniques to relax them. However, there is usually restricted fascial tissue around the muscles which is inhibiting the muscles from letting go. This restricted fascia may wind anywhere in the body and may contain stored energy and/or emotion. I usually address this with John Barnes Myofascial Release and, less often, with deep stroking motions, much like Rolfing.

Before I work with someone I take a history and do any appropriate orthopedic and/or neurological tests. From there I will come up with a working diagnosis, which may not mean much, but is interesting, and sometimes useful.

A diagnosis may not mean much because it may be wrong and it is almost always incomplete. However, I usually make a working diagnose because it is place to start and it can highlight areas that may need caution, special treatment, or referral. However, when you understand the nature of the body's fascial system and how anything can effect anything else in the body you maintain an open mind.

Treatment Flexibility
I offer a free consultation and, a spectrum of treatment options from short-term, chiropractic care to 1 hr to 2 hr sessions, often done in a series, to focus on releasing and balancing more chronic and deep musculoskeletal patterns.
